What to Expect When You Visit

Maybe you’re just curious. Maybe you’ve been looking for a church home. Wherever you are, we hope your visit will be comfortable and meaningful.

Not in town or prefer watching from home? View our live stream every Sunday & Wednesday. You can get a feel for our worship style, hear the message, and then decide to visit in person.

Before You Come

  • You don't need to do anything but decide to visit, no reservations or registration required.

  • We encourage you to bring a Bible, but if you don't have one, we have plenty available when you arrive. Just look for the "welcome desk" and ask one of our friendly greeters.

  • When you arrive, you’ll be greeted warmly by one of our members. Come in, find a place to sit, relax, observe, sing along, and listen — no pressure.

  • We don’t have a live rock band on stage. We all sing together—heartily, from the heart—not as a performance. The first Christians “sang psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).

  • We believe in the practice of the Lord’s church giving freely, as the early Christians did: “On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come” (1 Corinthians 16:2). We support the missions and needs of the congregation in this way. However, as a visitor, you will never feel pressured to contribute.

  • We observe the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, “as often as you drink it… proclaiming the Lord’s death until He comes.” (1 Corinthians 11:26). We learn that the purpose of the Sunday gathering was to eat this spiritual meal together, remembering the death of Christ on the cross (Acts 20:7).

  • We strive to teach the Bible in a clear, straightforward way. If you have questions, you can write them down and place them in our question box. Once a month, we set aside a Sunday evening to answer as many of these questions as possible. You can even watch some of our previous Questions and Answers sessions on our lessons page.

"How should I dress?"

This is a common question people ask when deciding to visit a church. No one wants to feel out of place or stand out as different.

We don’t have a formal dress code, but we encourage clothing that shows respect for worship and reverence for God. Most of our members wear what could be called “respectful but comfortable.” You’ll see a variety, from dress shirts and skirts to more casual slacks or modest dresses.

We live in a world that often forgets what reverence truly looks like. At North Jackson, our goal is to honor God in everything we do, including how we present ourselves during worship. The most important thing is the heart you bring before the Lord. “Worship God acceptably with reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28).

Whether you’re in your Sunday best or clean and modest weekday clothes, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
